Darrell Ethier was first drawn to taxidermy because he saw, in this craft, a chance to produce art, and that is very evident in his mounts and reproduction fish.
He apprenticed at one of North America's largest taxidermy shops in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, where he honed his skills for 22 years, learning every aspect of this business. He opened his own studio 10 years ago, and his skills have only improved. He takes pride in and does quality checks at every stage of the process. He oversees the tanning, and goes to great lengths to create just the right the pose, facial expression, and base, which he crafts himself. He ensures quality from start to finish, which results in a superior product.
Darrell has over 60 molds and can reproduce just about any size and species of fish in the Manitoba/Northwestern Ontario region. He hand-crafted each of the molds using real fish bodies, and has perfected the process of fabricating a fish so life-like, we defy you to tell the reproduction from the real one! His attention to colour and to unique disposition creates a fish "with an attitude". You won't even regret that you released the real one!
